Carrollton Elementary School registered 551 African American students for the 2024-25 school year, which was a 0.2% increase from the prior year, data from the Georgia Department of Education show.
Total enrollment at Carrollton Elementary reached 1,672 students in the 2024-25 school year. African American students comprised 33% of the total, making them the second-largest demographic at the school.
The school belongs to Carrollton City School District, whose main office is in Carrollton.
Carrollton High School reported the district’s highest number of African American students in 2024-25, enrolling 582 students.
More than 1.7 million students were enrolled in Georgia’s public schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Statewide elementary enrollment stood at 787,206 students (45.9%), middle schools enrolled 388,733 students (22.7%), and high school enrollment totaled 539,092 students (31.4%).
The Georgia Department of Education reported that chronic absenteeism is still a substantial issue statewide after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of instructional days in 2024. To address this, GaDOE rolled out a statewide plan that includes a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and focused assistance for districts most in need to encourage more consistent attendance.
In 2025, the Georgia legislature enacted new attendance legislation that prohibits expulsion solely because of absenteeism. The measure also incorporates additional reporting requirements and harmonizes with programs supporting alternative diploma tracks.
By 2026, Georgia’s average student-teacher ratio stood at approximately 14:1, which is better than the national average of 15:1.
