Congressman Brian Jack reopened the Tyrone Post Office on June 1, fulfilling a promise made to Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District. The post office had been closed due to extensive structural damage caused by a fire in March 2023, which led to prolonged reconstruction and required multiple building inspections.

Jack said, “Before I was sworn into Congress, I promised to reopen the Tyrone Post Office, which had previously suffered extensive structural damage due to a fire. As of today, the Tyrone Post Office is fully open for business. During a Congressional oversight hearing, I asked the Postmaster General to accelerate the Post Office’s reconstruction, which had been delayed for years. He and his team swiftly reacted, and worked closely with my office to achieve this goal. Thank you to Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial and the Tyrone Town Council for your partnership and forceful advocacy, and thank you to Postmaster General David Steiner and Kayla Dufrene of the Postal Service for your leadership on this important project.”

Built in 1983, the post office’s closure forced residents of Tyrone to travel to other cities for postal services during its repair period. Jack publicly addressed constituent frustrations during a high-profile Congressional hearing earlier this year by calling on United States Postmaster General David Steiner to speed up reconstruction efforts.

The post office is now fully operational again with all retail operations restored—including mailing services as well as business and financial services. Customers who previously rented P.O. Boxes are able either to rent their original box with their existing key or purchase replacement keys if needed.

Tyrone Mayor Eric Dial credited Jack’s involvement in reopening efforts: “While we had gloomy weather in Tyrone, it was bright and sunny inside our Post Office. I am grateful to Congressman Jack for getting this project over the finish line.”

In 2024, Brian Jack defeated Maura Keller in the general election with 66.3% of votes compared with Keller’s 33.7%, according to Congressman Jack’s official website.
