Congressman Brian Jack of Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District welcomed Consul General Kenichi Matsuda and officials from the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta to Peachtree City for a tour focused on Japanese-owned, American-operated businesses. The group visited several companies, including Hoshizaki America, TDK Components USA, Shinsei Corporation, and Asahi Biosciences, Inc., discussing the impact of international investment in Fayette County and the district.
Jack commented on the significance of Japanese investment in the area: “I am honored to welcome the Consul General of Japan Kenichi Matsuda to Peachtree City. In the years after Peachtree City’s founding, international investment from companies like Hoshizaki and TDK accelerated the growth of our beloved city. Today, Japanese-owned, American-operated businesses in Peachtree City employ over 1,500 of my constituents, and I am grateful for Consul General Matsuda’s partnership and support as we work to create more jobs across Georgia’s incredible 3rd Congressional District.”
The visit took place shortly after President Trump announced further details about a trade agreement with Japan. According to Trump’s statement on TruthSocial: “Japan is now officially, and financially, moving forward with the FIRST set of Investments under its $550 Billion Dollar Commitment to invest in the United States of America… [including] three TREMENDOUS Projects in the Strategic Areas of Oil & Gas in the Great State of Texas, Power Generation in the Great State of Ohio, and Critical Minerals in the Great State of Georgia.”
Consul General Matsuda spoke about ongoing collaboration between Japan and Georgia: “Japan and the Peach State have a longstanding, strong and enduring relationship, and Peachtree City has served as a cornerstone for Japanese investment in the region. We are deeply grateful for Congressman Jack’s continued support of Japanese companies, and for taking the time to visit and meet with dedicated Georgians who power their success. The companies we featured today represent an impressive variety of industries – from biotechnology research to advanced manufacturing in plastics, industrial machinery, and electronic components. The site visits were a fantastic opportunity to showcase the innovation and impact of Japanese businesses in the district, and was a truly valuable engagement. We look forward to building on this momentum to further continuing our collaboration that strengthens economic ties between our communities.”
Allan Dziwoki, President of Hoshizaki America added: “We are delighted to host Congressman Brian Jack and Consul General Kenichi Matsuda at our Peachtree City facility today. This visit provides an excellent opportunity to showcase Hoshizaki’s significant investment in Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District and the outstanding contributions of our 882 local employees who proudly manufacture industry-leading commercial refrigeration and ice machines right here in Georgia. We deeply value the strong economic partnership between the United States and Japan, and we remain committed to growing our operations, supporting our community, and creating high-quality jobs in the 3rd District for years to come.”
After touring business sites together, Jack hosted Matsuda along with members of his delegation at Mr. Fuji Steakhouse & Sushi.
Jack won his seat by defeating Maura Keller during the 2024 general election by receiving over two-thirds (66.3%) of votes cast.
The event highlighted efforts aimed at strengthening economic ties between local communities within Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District—recognized for its welcoming environment toward foreign investors—and Japan.
