Today in Coweta County, Georgia, Congressman Brian Jack welcomed United States Secretary of Education Linda McMahon for a tour of the Central Educational Center in Newnan. The visit included a roundtable discussion on education with bipartisan state and local leaders.

“I am honored to welcome the United States Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District to showcase the Central Educational Center in Newnan, one of our District’s greatest innovations,” said Congressman Brian Jack.

He added, “In the 1990s, the Coweta County community identified a problem in need of a solution: our high school graduates did not have access to advanced educational training necessary to compete in a global economy with new technology and increased automation. To solve this issue, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, the Coweta County School System, West Georgia Technical College, and other leaders, like Mark Whitlock, came together to create the Central Educational Center, a system through which high school students could seamlessly learn the arts and sciences and technical training. As a testament to the success of this approach, the State of Georgia has invested over $200 million to replicate this educational model across 50 counties.”

Congressman Jack continued, “During my campaign, I pledged to bring America’s leaders to our communities to promote the incredible things happening across Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District. I am honored to keep that promise, as today marks the 8th visit by a Member of President Trump’s Cabinet to our District during my first term.”

Secretary McMahon commented on her experience during the visit: “It was a pleasure to visit the Peach State and see how local leaders, teachers, and parents are preparing the next generation for the jobs of tomorrow through advanced technical training in high school. Seeing these technical labs in action highlights how the power of locally driven solutions can prepare students for a successful career.”

The tour included stops at career and technical education labs such as Precision Machining, Dental Assisting, Aviation, and Audio Production. Students demonstrated skills they learned through these programs.

Following their tour, Congressman Jack led a roundtable discussion focused on Presidential and Congressional initiatives related to education and workforce development.

Attendees at these events included Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones; Newnan Mayor James Shepherd; State Senator Matt Brass; State Representative Lynn Smith; former Congressman Lynn Westmoreland; Coweta County Commissioners; members of the Coweta County Board of Education; Newnan City Councilmembers; and other local officials.

This visit by Secretary McMahon is part of an ongoing effort by Congressman Jack during his first term in office. Since taking office after defeating Maura Keller in 2024 with about two-thirds of votes cast (66.3% vs. 33.7%), he has hosted eight visits from members of President Trump’s Cabinet throughout Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District.

Past visits include meetings with officials such as Secretary Scott Turner from Housing and Urban Development in Pike County; Vice President JD Vance along with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler in Fayette County for promotion activities around H.R. 1 legislation; Secretary Doug Collins from Veterans Affairs attending an event at EchoPark Speedway in Henry County; Secretary Chris Wright from Energy celebrating legislative changes impacting Spalding County manufacturing jobs; and additional events with SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler engaging small businesses in Troup County.
