In-state tuition and fees rose 1 percent for 2018-19 at the University of West Georgia, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Georgia residents paid $6,288 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $62 more than the $6,226 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 171.5 percent more than residents this year, or $17,074. Their price tag grew 0.4 percent from $17,010 in 2017-18.

About 96 percent of the school’s undergraduate population are Georgia residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,860 students received grants or scholarships totaling $13.1 million and 1,406 students took out student loans totaling more than $8.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (13,733), 8,515 students used grants or scholarships totaling $50.3 million, and 6,623 students took out $40.3 million in federal student loans.
