Evans Middle School had 389 white students enrolled for the 2024-25 school year, a 5.4% decline compared with the prior year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
Overall enrollment at Evans Middle School stood at 735 students for 2024-25. White students represented 53% of that total, remaining the largest single demographic at the school.
The school operates under the Coweta County School District, whose central office is based in Newnan.
Of the 29 schools within the Coweta County School District, East Coweta High School had the largest number of white students enrolled in 2024-25, with a total of 1,342.
More than 1.7 million students attended Georgia’s public schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Elementary schools had the largest share with 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by middle schools at 388,733 (22.7%), and high schools at 539,092 (31.4%).
After the pandemic, chronic absenteeism continues to challenge Georgia’s schools, with 20.7% of students missing 10% or more days in 2024, according to the Georgia Department of Education. In response, GaDOE began a statewide effort featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness initiative, and targeted help for high-need districts to improve attendance.
In 2025, Georgia lawmakers revised attendance policies prohibiting expulsion for absenteeism alone. The law introduced additional reporting requirements and supports ways for students to earn diplomas through alternative programs.
As of 2026, Georgia’s average student-to-teacher ratio was about 14:1, which is more favorable than the national average of 15:1.
