About 28.6 percent of the 2,659 degrees and certificates handed out by the University of West Georgia in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Carrollton conferred 321 master’s degrees and 273 certificates in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in registered nursing/registered nurse. Data shows the school gave out 188 bachelor’s degrees in registered nursing/registered nurse, followed by 163 bachelor’s degrees in general psychology and 143 bachelor’s degrees in general business administration and management.

The university enrolled 13,733 students for 2017-18, including 11,135 in undergraduate programs and 2,598 in graduate programs.
