AP Letter

Genbusiness001

East Paulding High School recently issued the following announcement.

Congratulations on participating in Advanced Placement classes, courses which provide college-level academic experiences that challenge and inspire. Students who take AP courses and exams demonstrate to college admission officers that they have pursued an educational experience that will prepare them for success in college and beyond. Performing well on an AP exam means more than just the successful completion of a course. Most colleges and universities accept successful exam scores for credit, advanced placement, or both. Research consistently indicates that students who are successful in AP typically experience greater academic success in college than those who do not participate in AP programs. The 2022 AP Exams will be administered May 2 - 13. As we approach the testing dates, more details will be provided to all AP students who are planning to take AP exams.

Costs and Fees:

• Each AP exam costs $100.00.

• If a student is on a free or reduced lunch – first AP exam (any exam) is free; additional AP exams for students on a free or reduced lunch are $ 53.00 each.

• If a student is taking science or math (STEM) AP exams, the first STEM exam is free (for any student, not necessarily for students on a free or reduced lunch). • ALL students enrolled in AP courses in the spring MUST pay the $40.00 deposit fee by March 15, 2022.

• This deposit will be applied to the overall exam fee in the Spring. The balance will be due by May 15, 2022. • If you pay the deposit of $ 40.00 after the deadline, March 15th, you will be charged a late fee of $ 40.00 (College Board established the fee).

• If your AP exam is free (first science or math exam or one free exam for students on a free or reduced lunch), you still need to pay the deposit of $ 40.00 because College Board charges $ 40 for each unused exam. The order for your exam will be placed on March 15th, 2022.

• If you pay the deposit, your exam will be ordered on March 15th, 2022. If you change your mind and decide not to take the exam (even if your exam would have been free), College Board will still charge a fee of $ 40 for each unused exam, which is what your deposit will cover.

• If your AP exam is free, after you take your exam, the deposit will be reimbursed to you.

• Students requiring financial assistance should see Dr. Keith to learn more (ikeith@paulding.k12.ga.us).

Action Steps:

Any student who is enrolled in spring AP courses and who is planning to take the corresponding AP exams in the Spring, must complete the following THREE items by March 15, 2022:

• Register for the corresponding AP class/section with College Board (myap.collegeboard.org). You will need a join code from your AP teacher).

• Register with Total Registration (totalregistration.net) which be used for the fee processing purposes.

• Pay $ 40.00 deposit fee online through Total Registration. If you prefer to pay the entire balance by March 15th, then you will not be charged a convenience fee by Total Registration (the balance will be due by May 15th, 2022). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I will be happy to assist you with any inquiries and/or concerns.
