Friend of AAHOA and President of Northeast Los Angeles Hotel Owners Association Ray Patel joined “Fox and Friends Weekend” to discuss the safety concerns surrounding the Hotel Land Use and Replacement Housing Requirements ordinance.
This ordinance, which last Friday was voted on by the Los Angeles City Council to place the ordinance on the ballot for the next regular city election, puts the burdens of the city’s unhoused individuals crisis squarely on the front doors of our members' hotels. It creates a safety concern for hotel guests, housekeepers, and all hotel staff. We greatly appreciate Ray speaking out about the concerns regarding the ordinance that echo the thoughts of many AAHOA Members.
“AAHOA has great compassion for all unsheltered residents, but this is not the answer. Turning hotels into partial homeless shelters without training, resources, and wrap-around services will only create problems and #safety concerns,” said President and CEO of AAHOA Laura Lee Blake in her recent LinkedIn post.
