State Representative J Collins (R-Villa Rica) has announced that he will not seek re-election to the Georgia House of Representatives after eight years of service. In a statement released today, Rep. Collins expressed his gratitude to his constituents and outlined his reasons for stepping down.
Collins stated, “It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve my friends and neighbors in Carrol County in House District 71 for nearly a decade in the House of Representatives. After a combined total of more than 20 years in public service, I am announcing that I will not be running for reelection to the House of Representatives."
He thanked his constituents for their trust, saying, "I am proud of the great work that we have accomplished under this Gold Dome. But it is time to turn the page and allow someone new to represent our community’s values and interests at the State Capitol."
Looking ahead, Collins mentioned his plans for the future, saying, "I look forward to continuing to spending more time with my family, tending to my funeral home and serving our community in new capacities."
Representative J Collins, who represents District 71, including portions of Carroll County, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016. Currently, he serves as Chairman of the Public Safety & Homeland Security Committee and Secretary of the Juvenile Justice Committee.
