Ellis Cadenhead | Troup County Board

Ellis Cadenhead, incumbent member of the Troup County Board of Commissioners, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to his seat representing District 2. The primary election will be held on May 21.

Cadenhead is running for re-election in the GOP primary against April Loftin and James "Jamie" Thrallkill.

Cadenhead is Troup County native. He was an assistant general manager at Newnan Utilities before retiring and then working as general manager of the Coweta County Water Authority. Additionally, he served on Electric Cities of Georgia's board of directors, where he served as board chair, and he was president of the Georgia Public Web.

Cadenhead and four sons were the subjects of a 2022 profile in the LaGrange Daily News about their service as firefighters. The article noted that Cadenhead had recently marked his 55th year of service as a volunteer firefighter and that he helped to form a civil defense program in Rosemont, and the program began Rosemont Fire and Rescue.

According to his biography on the Troup County Commissioners' website, Cadenhead and his wife Carol have six children, 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Cadenhead as a candidate that understood "the importance of protecting private property rights, ensuring government transparency, exercising fiscal responsibility, and fostering economic opportunity." Kolean expressed confidence that Cadenhead's continued leadership will help Decatur County flourish.

According to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), responsibilities of the commissioners include preparing, reviewing, and setting the annual county budget, controlling ad maintaining county property, levying county taxes, and promoting economic and industrial development.
