Lewis Davis | Troup County Board
Lewis Davis, incumbent member of the Troup County Board of Commissioners, is seeking the Republican nomination fo re-election to his seat representing District 3. The primary will be held on May 21.
Davis is running for re-election in the GOP primary against Ashley Johnson Adams, T.C. Nixon, and Rex Scott.
In a video announcing his re-election campaign, Davis emphasized his pride in having represented District 3 as Troup County Commissioner for two terms and looked forward to doing so again for another four years. "I always try to remember who put me in this position and who I need to take care of. I always look for the people of District 3 and all of Troup County," he said.
According to his biography on the Troup County Commissioners' website, Davis is a third-generationi resident of Troup County, having been raised on a farm there. He spent more than three decades as a cattle and timber farmer for his father's timber and construction business and then started his own business in 1998. He owns and operates two Troup County businesses.
Davis is a former chair of the Troup County Republican Party. Currently, he serves on the Troup County Board of Health, Troup County Homebuilders Association, Troup County Chamber of Commerce, and Troup County Sportsmen's Club, as well as on the board of directors for the LaGrange Kiwanis Club and the West Georgia Boys and Girls Club. He has been married to his wife Gay for 17 years, and they have one son, Trey.
In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Davis as a candidate that understood "the importance of protecting private property rights, ensuring government transparency, exercising fiscal responsibility, and fostering economic opportunity." Kolean expressed confidence that Davis' continued leadership will help Decatur County flourish.
According to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), responsibilities of the commissioners include preparing, reviewing, and setting the annual county budget, controlling ad maintaining county property, levying county taxes, and promoting economic and industrial development.
