Ellis Cadenhead | Troup County Board
Ellis Cadenhead, incumbent member of the Troup County Board of Commissioners, advanced from the Republican primary election to a runoff in his bid for re-election. The runoff election will be held on June 18.
In the May 21 primary race, Cadenhead and James Thrailkill each received 999 votes, or 38 percent. April Loftin received 608 votes, or 23 percent. As the top two vote-getters in the primary, Cadenhead and Thrailkill will face off in the upcoming runoff election on June 18th.
According to LaGrange Daily News, Cadenhead is currently serving his second term on the Taylor County Board of Commissioners.
Cadenhead and Thrailkill participated in a candidate forum hosted by the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce. During the forum, Cadenhead addressed a number of concerns facing Troup County, including roadside litter and short-term rental properties. He reiterated that he is in favor of letting residents choose which garbage sanitation provider they want to use. Cadenhead previously voted against the County's decision to require that unincorporated Troup County use a single sanitation franchise provider.
In a press release endorsing Cadenhead's candidacy, RED PAC — which is focused on private property rights, government transparency, fiscal responsibility, and economic development — said that they believe Cadenhead's track record and foresight "align with RED PAC's mission of fostering a robust and transparent government that champions the conservative values of its constituents."
According to the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG), responsibilities of the commissioners include preparing, reviewing, and setting the annual county budget, controlling ad maintaining county property, levying county taxes, and promoting economic and industrial development.
