A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Troup County Election Department on October 29, 2024. The request, issued by NC Georgia News, sought details about the methods used by the department to count votes.
NC Georgia News is a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of its commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, it requested specific records under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq.
The information requested included a list of methods employed by the department for vote counting. If any of these methods involved manual counting, NC Georgia News also asked for an estimated number of people who would be working on election night.
