FOIA Request to Troup County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

We at NC Georgia News have sent a formal request to the Troup County Election Department under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., seeking comprehensive information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The requested data includes the full names of the candidates (first, middle, and last), the office they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation. Additionally, we have asked for complete contact information for each candidate which includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

We believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a positive response from the Troup County Election Department as we continue our mission of ensuring transparency in local governance through comprehensive news coverage.
