Bishop Hall Charter School recently issued the following announcement.

Justin Rogers was hired as the Thomas County Central head football coach Friday following the Thomas County Board of Education’s unanimous approval at a morning board meeting.

He will officially begin his duties as the Yellow Jackets’ head coach on January 3 according to Athletic Director Philip Duplantis.

“It is a privilege and honor to be able to serve as the head coach at Thomas County Central,” Rogers said. “I’m super excited to be a part of the Yellow Jacket family and feel passionately about continuing the tradition of excellence.”

In three seasons at Colquitt County, Rogers has a 26-7 record which includes a state playoff appearance this year. In 2020, he was named Region 1 7A Coach of the Year, and his team was ranked top 50 in the nation.

Rogers, in five seasons at Jones County, was one of the most successful coaches in school history with a record of 45-15. He did not have a single losing season at Jones County High School.

He got his start at Harris County High School and worked as an assistant head coach for Griffin High School where he became known for his stint as offensive coordinator. At Griffin High School, Rogers helped the Bears win the 2013 AAAA state title with a 15-0 record and held the record of the highest scoring offense in school history averaging 43 points per game.

Graduating from Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education, Rogers also holds a master’s degree from Augusta State University.

Duplantis said, “We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Rogers and his family to Thomas County Central.  We look forward to beginning a new chapter in the storied tradition of Thomas County Central football with Coach Rogers at the helm.  He is a great fit not only for Central and our football program, but also for the entire Thomas County Central Family.”

Rogers added, “I’m looking forward to being a part of this community and working with our athletes to develop their skills both on the field and in life.”
